All Types of Fish Waiting to be Caught
Crappie!
Homer with a dandy crappie.
Richard Fox goes after 'em all winter long.
Crappie are an excellent tasting game fish found in our waters.  Biting on jigs and minnows, crappie find their
way up our creek to spend the winter.  Usually turning on about November, they are sought after until the
fishing slows around the end of May.  Our average crappie is about 1 pound, but it takes about a 2 and a half
pounder to win our crappie contest in February and March.  Biggest one I've ever seen?  Just under 4 lbs.
Take Limit is 20 per day.
Catfish!
Catfish are abundant in our area.  They are a reliable fish, you should be able to catch them on any given day of
the week all year long.  We have Channel, Blue and Flat Head in our waters.  Biting on just about anything,
including shad, worms, livers, hearts, and stink bait.  Many choose to use trot lines or float fun noodles
(jugging), while others stick to pole fishing, either way you should be able to eat catfish for supper.
Take Limit is 10 per day, more if you keep your small Channels.
Bass!
Misc!
Lake Dardanelle is becoming more and more famous for its Bass!  We have seen a lot of money fish caught in
our area.  It takes 15" to be big enough to keep.  I have seen a lot of 2 - 4 pounders measure.  It takes the more
perfected anglers to find the 4 -8 pounders, but they are out there.  Different types of lures work better in
different seasons, but chartreuse and whites seem to be some of the best colors.  We have darker water, so
you want to make sure you use something that will show!
The boys show a big Buffalo, usually
caught during crappie season on a jig!
